|Since its inception in 1983, American Radiolabeled Chemicals, Inc. (ARC) has established itself as one of the leading suppliers of high quality radiolabeled and unlabeled chemicals in the world. Our new catalog contains more than 4,000 radiolabeled and unlabeled Amino Acids, Biological Chemicals, Carbohydrates, Ceramides, Coenzyme A’s, Dioxins, Drugs, Fatty Acids, Glitazones, Inositides, Isoprenoids, Lipids, Neurochemicals, Nucleotides, PCBs, Peptides, Pesticides, Statins, Steroids, Toxins, etc. More than half of the products in our catalog are exclusively available through ARC.
We are also expanding our unlabeled chemical listings. Due to our small size, we are very flexible and are willing to make new products even though they may not be very popular and used only by a few researchers.
In addition to catalog items, ARC offers a wide range of custom synthesis services using Carbon-14 and tritium. On a limited basis, ARC offers custom synthesis using 33P, 35S, and 125I. ARC also offers custom synthesis of products labeled with stable isotopes as well as unlabeled chemicals.
Whereas the United States is the world’s biggest market for radiochemicals, more than 45% of ARC’s sales are outside the country. ARC has distributors in 28 countries and its own offices in Canada, India, and the United Kingdom. We also ship directly to many countries where we do not have agents. However, in many cases we are only able to ship to the nearest airport.
The year 2010 was the most challenging year in the history of carbon-14 labeled radiochemicals. There was an acute worldwide shortage of barium carbonate [14C], the basic raw material for all carbon-14 radiosyntheses. The shortage was unprecedented but unfortunately it is likely to continue for the next 2-3 years. ARC was among a few suppliers which were able to cope with the shortage and continue to supply bulk carbon-14 precursors, such as acetanilide, aniline, benzene, potassium cyanide, sodium acetate, etc. The shortage of barium carbonate [14C] only affected the production of bulk intermediates. It did not affect the supply or syntheses of standard catalog products that are used for basic research worldwide.
There is plenty of tritium gas available from several sources at reasonable prices. Researchers are encouraged to switch to tritium labeled products as much as possible in the short-run. ARC offers a full range of tritium labeled compounds as well as bulk precursors, such as tritium gas, methyl iodide, methyl nosylate, sodium borotritide, etc.
